Dragon scale dice bag

I wanted to make this bag for a long time, but my skill level was never there. Till now. 

Well, my skill level is still not there, but now I have enough courage to try. And it turned out so good.

Better than what I expected. After I made this one, in one day I made two more. 


Let me show you how I did it.



Step 1. Material



- Macrame cotton yarn

- Croche hook

- Scissors


I wanted my bag to be sturdy. That is why I picked macrame yarn. You can make it from any yarn you want.



Step 2. Pattern



For this, I watched a lot of YouTube videos and Pinterest patterns, but in the end I made some changes to get what I wanted.


First you start with a magic circle. Inside it there needs to be 11 double croches. 


In the pattern down below you can see the first 3 rows. This is your floor of the bag.




Now let's start making the wall. 4th row is a single double croche in every stich. 


We have gotten to our dragon scales. So I found this pattern on Pinterest, but at first I didn't really like it, so I made some changes.


This is my final version.



We are reading it from the top. 

First you make row one from the second pattern on our 4th row, or our wall. Once we get to the beginning (everything is in a circle) in that same row, we go to the second one. So, in every place where we have 2 double croches we make one dragon scale. 


That is the pattern we repeat till we are happy with the height. I made 3 rows with scales. That is good height for a dice bag. 


Once you get to the end of your bag, make 3 rows of single croches and end all with a row of slip stitches. Just to make it more sturdy. 


To close the bag I made a braid out of some leather material I had, but you can put whatever you want. 


Things I learned from this project.


1. It is fine to change the pattern. 
There were some parts that I had to change because I used macrame yarn for my equipment.

One thing I had to change was this part. In some videos and patterns I have seen, this part had 3 chain stitches. For my yarn, that was too much and it looked weird. So I put only one.  

2. Using macrame yarn is the best yarn to use if you are trying to learn how to croche. 


Macrame yarn doesn't stretch. And from one yarn that I got I made 3 bags.


3. Use ombre yarn if possible. 


It looks so good. I am still not there with my skill level to put any color on what I want. So this ombre yarn is the best thing ever.

How to make a medieval tent?

Not so long ago, I wanted to build a medieval tent. Actually, I needed to build a medieval tent.  The first idea was to buy one. Now that I look beck on it, I should have done that.  But at the time I did not have the money to buy one. Medieval tents cost around 1000€ and that's just for the tent part. Shipping is not included in this price.  Thus my adventure to build one beggins.  Step 1. Know what you want! The tent I wanted is a small medieval tent from the 11th century.
